The course

The Longworth 10K is a beautiful run.  It starts on a gravel track at the east end of the village, runs along the ridge and then down to the river. Just short of the river you turn on to grass track and stay on grass / dirt as you follow the Thames Path west.  When you leave the Thamas path, you're back on gravel / concrete farm track as you climb up the "yellow brick road" and back along the bridle path from Hinton Waldrist.  The finish is outside the gorgeous Longworth Manor.

A stunning run, but not the course for a PB!

The course is not suitable for running with baby strollers.  Dogs are allowed but must be on leads at all times and runners with dogs must start at the back of the pack.

The facilities

Parking, changing rooms, toilets and bag drop.

There are markers every kilometer on the course and water stops at approximately the 3 & 8km points, and at the finish.

There may be ice cream at the finish!  And a fine local pub in the village.

Entry

£13 in advance, £15 on the day

£2 discount for UKA affiliated runners.

£10 for U18s.

On the day entry is available, up to our race limit of 200 runners.

On the day

Some important pointers for the day:

  • We recommend you arrive no later than 10:15am to give yourself plenty of time to park, register and make it to the start, particularly if you have not pre-registered.
  • If you don't know where Longworth is, set your SatNav to OX13 5DU .
  • As you come into the village you will see lots of bright yellow signs.
  • Follow signs to Parking  to drop your car off.
  • Then follows signs to Registration  which will lead you to the Village Hall, where you pick up your race number.
  • If you are pre-registered:
  • You just need to announce your name to the volunteers on the desk.  They will hand you a pre-completed entry form for you to sign, and give you your race number.
  • If you are entering on the day:
  • You will need to complete an entry form and pay (cash) to the volunteer on the desk. They will then provide you with your race number.
  • Please make sure you provide contact details and medical information on the form on the back of your race number.
  • Also at the Village Hall are:
  • A bag drop, and we will take your bags to the Finish (because it's also next to the car park)
  • Changing facilities, toilets & drinking water.
  • Safety pins and pens!
  • The race starts at 11:00am sharp and is a 5 minute walk from the Village Hall and will be signed Race Start
  • The course is very definitely multi-terrain, uneven, and may be slippery in places if we get rain on the day, so please warm up well in advance and run with care.
